    The Official Photography Thread

So Max pointed out to me he could no longer find the older photography threads (BMB ninjas probably killed them off) so we decided a new thread was necessary. Anyway, if you have any photography questions or interesting photos to share post them up.

This morning was my first time really shooting with a strobist group here in NYC. Basically we would use these small off camera flashes (speedlights) and try to take our shoots to the next level. Long story short we ran into this girl a few weeks back while walking around Union Square, she posed for my friends a little and was nice enough to keep in contact. She's a total sweetheart and pleasure to work with. Anyway, I'm a newbie at this so there's still lots to learn on my end. Here are some of my photos from the shoot today in Soho (pretty much taken straight from camera since all I did was play around with the curves a little):

    Re: The Official Photography Thread

Thanks guys. Maybe the poses did look a tad unnatural but there's still a lot for me to learn. Hopefully the next shoot will come out better. Bdawg...let me get some skills first before we start talking about lingerie shoots... :)

Jonathank, I'm aiming to take my camera out to the slopes this coming season. Your shots look so sick. My friends are no where near the skill level of the pro guys you shoot so I guess dramatic cliff drops are probably out of the question.
I'm curious if I could pick your brain on your lighting setups. I particularly like the night time pow slashes you shot with the gelled strobes. Do you have Facebook?

no gelled strobe on the flash haha, looks like it though.

It's the lighting we used for filming, their colour temp is super warm. So when you shoot at night at slower shutter speeds you pick up other lights. If i had used a faster one then you wouldn't really notice the other lights.

just shoot me an email if you ever have any questions

So basically you just slowed down the shutter speed to gain more ambient light and it so happens the temp of the lighting was warm. Got it! I'll definitely shoot you an email man.
