Iced_endeavor: confused:If you aren't jealous why did you even bring up the point about not being impressed with JP when you saw him? As for being "working" when they're just riding because they represent a brand, I wouldn't say that's true. Most riders get rewarded for magazine and video coverage. Companies could care less if they're up shredding the mountain. Maybe you can start calling and complaining to the companies of the riders you aren't impressed with when you see them on the hill. Maybe the next time they'll do something special for you How do my comments regarding JP at any point in time make me seem jealous. I acknowledge time and time again how sick he was and how much he's done for the sport. Someone made a comment about how he's still killing it and I said I thought otherwise based on what I've seen. I'm not going to be suprised if I see a few more good shots of JP before he retires, but that has nothign to do with my opinion that he's not really at the same level as the jib pros of today. You can argue with me all day, call me jealous or do whatever the *** else you want but that's my opinion, and I'm sure more than a few people will agree with me on that. JP deserves the utmost respect and I want to see him remembered like he deserves to be, not as someone who ended up killing it for the first part of their career and then spent the last few years settling on stock tricks and just earning a pay cheque. I said riders get rewarded for coverage, wins, etc. I think that's pretty clear. I also know companies don't give a *** about a riders day to day activities when they aren't out filming, competing, on a tour or whatever when they are just doing their own thing. But you can't tell me that a riders actions outside of snowboarding have no effect at all. Sure they don't try and pry into their day to day lives, but if someone who's being paid to represent a brand is making that brand look bad through their actions then I'm sure something would be done about it. I'm not at all saying companies are monitoring everything their riders do, but I'm sure if things start to become an issue they may take a more hands on approach. You're attitude in this thread has been *** since you came in here. Do you honestly think I care enough about how anyone else rides to make any phone call? This is a message board, a place where people take part in conversations. This particular conversation somehow went down the road it did and so I expressed my opinions. I'm not sure how my posts in this thread have been any different from many I see people making in other threads you're posting in where people are discussing who should and shouldn't be on Burton. I think it's too bad some people don't appreciate the opportunities they've gotten through snowboarding and that's my real feelings, hardly ones I feel the need to call anyone about. I love to snowboard and as a result I spend a lot of time on the mountains, in that time I see a lot of people riding and ride with a lot of different people. I'd say on some level I have an opinion regarding the skill level of anyone I've ever seen. Snowboarding, because it's so subjective is kinda like that, you see one person float a bs1 and it might be the worst bs1 you've ever seen then the next one you see might be super smooth, nice and poppy and tweaked perfectly. You might turn to your buddy and comment on how sick it was, or look at him and cringe when the guy with the sketchy bs1 almost knuckles backwards. Just because you had that opinion in that brief moment doesn't mean it holds a whole lot of weight overall. You can argue with my opinions all you want, and sit on your high horse all day, but regardless of what you may think everyone in here but you isn't completely oblivious to how things work. I'm not doubting you know your ***, but I don't think anything I've said is too far fetched.

Yep
But I will say though JP pioneered urban rail riding, he definately does not have the style or tricks of todays younger jibbers. He is an amazing rider though, his 1080 stepchild ad is pretty sick
SPK_IslandSnow:Just going to say that this thread fails, doesn't deliver, and receives a 0/10.
you're crazy. this is the most interesting thread in a long time.
