Problem with the Nomad and Titus is that they're so freakin' hard to find!

I'm still scouring classifieds trying to find something. Hopefully soon.

    Have you tried mtbr.com?

    Re: 2009 official bike thread

Yep! It seems that bikes I'm looking at are the popular ones, so they go quick. The heavier all-mountain stuff like the Intense 6.6/Tracer, SC Nomad/Heckler. There are a few Enduro's around, and quite a few Specialized SX's which is what I might be heading towards.

Funny, I was riding with my buddy yesterday and he observed how different the EK scene is from Whistler. Here there are lots of serious race DH setups, and hardly any freeride/jump bikes, where it's the opposite at Whistler. Isn't that sort of how snowboarding started out, with the racers on the EK and the freestyle/backcountry riders out West? If so, an interesting comparison.

    Paulg:

Where do you ride your P1 mainly? If it's just street stuff or hardpack (jumping or pump tracks) check out the Intense Micro Knobby:

I'm a big fan of Intense tires.

A Little bit more knobby tire for hardpack and light xc that my friends seem to rave about is the Kenda Small Block 8. [you can also get some for track/road size wheels]

    Re: 2009 official bike thread

The P1 stays on pavement 90% of the time.  It came with Specialized Rhythm Lite tires and I'm really liking them, when they wear out I'll probably go for more of the same or Maxxis Holy Rollers.  The only things I've really had any thoughts of upgrading so far are the rear rim and the grips (in favor of lock-ons, preferably not white), a fork with adjustable damping would be nice but upgrading to a DJ2 from the DJ3 it came with isn't worth $200+ to me.  I'll probably ride it as-is for a long time unless the rim really starts to go.

Rear shock is still holding air. Thanks again for the tip Ado.

Took a fast ride with the dogs last night. Rode a 5 mile up and down loop at a nearby reservoir. Little foster pup kept up really well, he was riding my back tire the whole way.

I love taking rides with the dogs. They have gotten good at it and have developed some good singletrack manners. I plan to take the camera next time.

    Re: 2009 official bike thread

Shweeeet, we did a little urban ride on Monday. Cut through the plateau to the "mountain" (Mont Royal) and biked up to a secret little downhill trail that's been snuck into the trees. Whoever built it has done a great job given the limited materials available. It's like 3-4 nice bermed corners, then squeeze between 2 tight trees, 7-10 foot jump (that I puss out on), to a little ladder thing, then probably 6-7 more berms with a few little technical tree root sections along the way. Super fun to lap. The scariest part about the whole thing is biking home in city traffic.

In other good news, my buddy is now considering selling me his nomad so he can buy something new. Win for both of us, as I really like the bike.

Did another loop at the local reservoir with my niece and dogs. Love the light at that time of day. Rode about 3.5 miles.

Aqueduct had about 2 inches of water in it. Fun to ride in.

    Re: 2009 official bike thread

I haven't been able to take my mountain bike out for almost 2 weeks now... It's been raining for 12 days straight in SLC... I haven't seen a weather pattern like this in the 6 years I've lived here and it's supposed to keep raining through Tuesday. June is typical dry and hot, it's going to take a week of no rain for the trails to dry out.

    Re: 2009 official bike thread

Finally snagged a day off to get my hand-me-down, early 90's Klein Quantum up and running. Went down to the local shop and snatched up 2 tubes, a pump, and some non-clip in pedals. Super fun riding around, too bad there is a ton of traffic around here and little to no bike lanes. gonna take it down to my mom's house tomorrow and have a go at some of the hills.

Will post pics in like 10 minutes soon as i get off the pot.
