I agree for the interior quality, the e36s look older in a significant way. I tried a 93 318is, loved the handling. I'm set on getting a rwd or awd car.

I looked through forums... alot of hype over the ///M's, have you ever tried one?

the M is worth the hype.  imo e46 M3 is the second best incarnation, after the e30 M3.
it is an amazing car.  driving one feels like a fighter jet, especially with the paddles.

e36 M, still a great car, but lacks the power & doesn't make up the difference in handling.  the e46 should start depreciating faster now that the e9x M is here.  but people are still asking way too much for them.

if you can find it within budget, my vote is for 330xi for awd pwnage + great power

To make a long story short, my 97 corolla that my dad gave me after breaking the engine's head... (car was probably beaten before he bought it at 100 000kms). Got it fixed with a used engine that failed me friday night... dead.

I'm on a $15K budget. Note that cars in Canada are about 4-6K more pricy than in the US...  what do you suggest, I'm set on a 3series, 2000-2003 e46 sedan, I want a 6cyl manual trans. saw some nice 325xi... I know they are pricy as f. but I'm dreaming of the e46 m3, wich is out of question for now. But it could be a e36 m3... definatly not the best option for winter tought, but it could work. And it is one extraordinary car.

Or I could get another engine for the corolla and plug it in... and wait before I get a new car...

Wait until they release the new Camaro

I want an e46 ///M very bad, 06 with the csl's engine... no paddle please, gimme a stick! and the fun that is driving with a clutch. this is my dream car, the dream that, if I do well in the next few years, will come true... real dream is a zonda.

330's are really tempting, there is a few ones with 120-140K kms... wich means I could drive it up to 220ish at LEAST...

Shralp, what's the mileale on your cars, tell me some about the maintenance, how much/ year average. thanks.

    chevy camaro, nah...

I'm starting to look into new cars and debated BMW until I realized that the majority of their cars are RWD, that has lead me back to going with another Audi.

CSL is SMG only.  once again with the e9x i've heard they're not bringing it to the US.  i guess it has such a cult following that it could still do great, but just for me, i would have a lot of trouble with the likely pricepoint on that model.

i agree on the stick - paddles are a fun novelty, but have to have the true MT.  plus the SMG can be super expensive to maintain/repair.

exactly, heard bad stories about the SMG, perfect launch is cool though.

the engine from the 06 is upgraded for every M3 vs 01-05. with the csl's engine, without having the csl tag because there isn't all the weight reduction kit, and available with a manual transmission.

    Re: BMB Bimmers enthousiasts.

i was unaware of that w/ the CSL engine, definitely good to know.

my dream is for bmw to introduce xdrive to the m3, with a torque control similar to what is on the STI, so that you could dedicate 100% to the rear wheels when conditions were good.  yeah, that's the dream.  and for them to make it less of a pig than the current version appears to be.

you manage to find the best photo i've seen of it yet.  but still.  the M3 was supposed to be about the track.  now it's tipping the scales at what, like 3600+ lbs?  to me that's inappropriate.

but yeah after that photo pig is definitely the wrong word.  slightly porkish?

I just read an article in some car mag claiming that the new M3 is a "near-perfect sport sedan"

I hear ya... less and less track specific... will be interesting to see what they'll do with the new CSL.

i think car & driver said something to the effect that competitors should just give up & start building M3s

an rx8 would be a terrible idea up north here... they hate the cold these very cool little revy rotative engines...

and I want some torque before 6000rpms, and more room.
