Also I have to say, this device:

has completely changed my life. Stupidly expensive but this early in the season and it's already improved the quality of my rides beyond my wildest expectations.

I'm saving my beans for a Specialized Command Post.

Anyone else peeped the new Santa Cruz Blur LT Carbon?

    ^^^ Goodness.

I do love the santa curz bikes. There is a lot of fun to be had on those. One of the guys I ride with has a Bullet and a Nomad.

Here's to biking, hope everyone has a good year ('cept you road bikers.... come on...).

Cheater!  I don’t even run a QR.  It’s so much more fun to fly over the bars every once in a while and jam my crotch into the back of my saddle.  Seriously though, I’ve been thinking about getting one; I’d have to do a Gravity Descender because the Joplin doesn’t come in 27.2.  Are these posts really the game changers everyone makes them out to be?

A game changer? Maybe, maybe not. I come from a background in DH racing so I am much, much more comfortable with lower saddle position, however I fully realize the need for full leg extension efficiency when pedaling. For me, this seat post has greatly improved the flow of my rides. The trails near my house at the lake probably don't warrant it at all as they aren't that technical but the trails up around the ski resort here can be VERY technical and it'll help there a ton.

    700c Lager Matte Black

Got a SE singlespeed for commuting to work and a light kit.  Forgot how nice a good CroMo frame feels.

Really really REALLY digging the rat rod look.

And in response to the seatpost... Is that thing electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, ???  And at first glance, things like that are one of the few things I don't like about mountain biking... so complex, so many moving parts, and if there's more moving parts it must be better.  [/whine]

Truthfully, I hate no bikers... but road biking is a snoozefest for me. I can appreciate the sprinters and the climbers but I have never gotten into road bikes.

I believe it's hydraulic and it works like adjustable suspension and lockout found on many forks these days. Yes it's complicated, yes it's expensive, yes it isn't necessary but I will say it's very, very nice and it does what it does very, very well.

I'm planning on converting an old 21 speed bike into a single-speed/fixed gear this spring.  Does anyone have experience doing this?  or know good shops (in the midwest or online) that I can get parts from?

I did two about a year ago. Hit me up if you have any questions.

Converting a road bike is a waste of money these days. You can go to places like bikesdirect.com, and get full bikes for less than the price of a decent fixed gear wheelset and crank.

I rode this (http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/id/boise-city/954124016722487641 ) on my road bike today(60cm Cannondale R1000 with Campy Veloce groupo) That climb is a litle tough with your lowest gear being 39x25
