Hey guys! One more new rookie! Need help with Gear.

    Hey all!

I've just tried this year one week snowboarding, and I felt pretty damn good with my learning.. Bought board/binding from a shop/school..

So now I'm buying good gear, and already got a good deal with boots Burton Moto 2009. my foot is usually EUR45, and Moto Boots is USA11.

I got good business with a friend, Burton Mission Bindings, but they are size M.

Is this ok, the boot-binding set??

    And I'm little divided.. I'm 1.85m tall ( about 6 feet ) and weight 79kg.

    Do I need wide board?

And for a begginers all purpose board (moutain, and little park) is it better 157-159 size or should go to 160-162?

Many thanx in advance, good powder for us all =)

I think your board size is good as long as you can get the stance width as wide as you like it to be. You don't NEED a longer board just because you're in the middle of the weight range.

Your board width should not be a problem either with size 11 boots.

I have ridden 156s with 11.5s and 12s, and it was ok. if you have a little overhang, it's not going to be an issue.

Sorry, my mistake typing! My boots is Burton Moto Size 12.

The 156's you have ridden had M or L bindings??

The bindings I have is Burton Mission M size. Should I change for L ?

I think I explained bad on board too. I'm about to buy board. A shop here in portugal has burton gear from '09 and '08 at sale price.,

For my budget the good thing would be a Burton Bullet (there is no wide version, but it is the wider board that burton makes, right?).

The shop has Burton Bullet 160. Is it too big?

My purpose is all mountain, still learning of course, and would like to try little bit the park and jumps... but stability should be a strong argument, i think??

motos (12), Mission (LARGE), and Bullet 160 will be fine.

If you can go a little bit smaller, it might be good, but if it's your only board, stay in the 157-160 range.

My first setup was very similar. I am about your height, about your weight, and my feet were about the same size.

I had size 13 northwave legend boots (I started downsizing a few years ago and now wear 11, 11.5, or 12 depending on the brand), size large mission bindings, and a burton bullet 162. Later that season, when i knew what i wanted, I switched over to some large p1 bindings and a Jamie lynn 157 wide because it was stiffer and smaller.

    It all worked out fine.

Have fun, and don't worry about getting inexpensive equipment, because you will know exactly what you want the next time you purchase and can spend more money when you know what features and specifications you like based on your experiences.

This is the reason the BMB nearly got cancelled. Sierra would have this guy on a Vapor with freshly painted-to-match bindings by now...

yes, you're right. at least 6 months ago he would have had lots of  good advice from many different points of view skewed predominantly towards burton but at least honest allowing him to make an informed decision. now he gets 3 or 4 replies and goes looking elsewhere. they made a big mistake, i think.

If you are is size 12 boots I think you should get size large bindings, but if you have the opportunity, try fitting the boots inside the bindings in the shop before you buy, then you know for sure if the boots fint the bindings.

They say that shorter and/or softer boards are good for beginners since shorter and softer boards are more forgiving.
