i found a nice ak 2l turbine jacket 2008.  i've got a problem finding the right chart for 2008.  i think the SIG fit didn't exist back then but for 2010 with a 42"inch chest i would fit in a large jacket.  The sizing i found for 2008 ak 2l jacket a large would corespond to 38-40" chest is this true ? the sizing chart was smaller in 2008 ?

jackets have been getting overall bigger in the last couple seasons

i find that sizing charts often dont really end up with proper fitting jackets, unlesss youre going for the small (mostly short) jacket look.

going by the charts, i should be in a small or medium, but a small or medium is tiny on me. a medium is even a little smaller than i like for a casual jacket, and i dont wear baggy casual clothes at all.. slim, in fact. and for snowboarding, with sig fit, its XL for me, or its not as long as i like... and i dont wear huge outerwear either.

the best way to figure out your size is always going to be to try it on. but doc is right, jackets are definitely bigger than they used to be in most cases.. sig fit did exist back then, its always been the normal fit. i had an 08 AK cyclic in large and i also had a 2010 cyclic in the same size, and the newer one is definitely a little bigger. mainly longer.

technically i dont know, but i would really lean toward XL for you. its really not that big. i have a 35" chest or something like that.. i really dont remember.. so if a large fits me properly (but still isnt quite as long as i like) then a large for a guy with a 42" chest is gonna be the fitted outdoorsy skier look.

edit: just measured. im about 39" at the most, fully inflated.. im 5'11 and about 155 pounds. not a big dude..
