    Mt. High, Bear Mountain

I live in Ohio (I know it sucks) and I'm headed up to So Cal this Christmas. I was wondering how the drive up to Bear Mountain or Mt. High is during the winter. I was looking on their websites and saw that you should have chains when going up to the resorts. Since I'm from Ohio I will be renting a car, and I have already rented a compact car and won't have chains.

    You can rent chains....

It's popular out here since it snows 3 times a year and most people hardly go up.

if it snows a lot usually there will be people who will do the chains for you at a price (yup usually pretty high) or you could just buy one. they are not that expensive...... and when it snows a lot chains are required... they'll send you back if you don't have them on.

But in December, a lot of times, it's just manmade snow.

Mt high usually doesnt require snow chains

Bear buy them before you go up if you lucky you wont need them and you could return them if not you can have them install it for you.

he's right about mtn high but you'll likely need them more often going to bear.  and once you buy chains, they're yours.  no one's taking them back.  and put the chains on yourself.  why pay someone $40 when you can do it yourself  in 5 minutes, no more than 10?  don't forget the rubber fasteners.
