    New Return Functionality on Backcountry.com

I wanted to point out a new functionality we have in the return process for  Backcountry.com and our other brands. One "complaint/inconvenience" that are customers have told us about is wanting their refund issued faster when they return an order. We have initiated a new way to get your money back faster, here is a quick run down of it so that all of you can utilize it if you return an item to us.

    Option 1

    If you are returning an item to us and are paying the return shipping (You decided you didn't like the item after all) you can;
    •  Login in to your account
    • Scroll Down, click on Returns
    • Find the order that you would like to return and click the return tab to the right.
    • Select the item(s) on the return you would like to send back and the reason, then click the continue button at the bottom of the page.
    • Click Create UPS Label, this label cost $6.99 and will be deducted from your refund. You will get a fully trackable and insured return with this lable.
    • Print out, tape to your box and drop off at any UPS Location.
As soon as UPS scans this prepaid label, your refund will be issued to your credit/debit card. No more waiting for it to arrive to our warehouse and waiting for it to be processed to get your return.

    Option 2

If you don't want to pay the $6.99 (you think you can ship your item(s) back cheaper yourself) you can ship it back to us with a service that offers tracking (UPS, Fedex, USPS Delivery Confirmation). As soon as your tracking number shows that it has been delivered to our warehouse, Call us up or hit up or Live Chat option with your tracking number and we can issue your refund to your card after we verify it has been delivered to our warehouse.

**Disclaimer** - Depending on your financial instituition, refunds to your Credit/Debit card typically take 3-5 business days to show on your end.

**Disclaimer II** - Sorry for the spam, but I figured many of the Bmbers out there that shop on our sites would find this info useful, but figured it was too "Spammy" for the lodge.

Re: New Return Functionality on Backcountry.com

The only thing I'd like clarification on is if the $6.99 is for returns of one item only OR for an entire order OR can it be combined items from more than one order?  I asked before sending a few things back last week and it was confusing getting an answer and summarized by the answer of one label per item.

It's only going to generate a label for one order, but what you can do is just get the RMA numbers set up from the other orders. Make sure to include a detailed list in the box of the order numbers, RMA numbers and what items go with each. Then you can just throw everything in one box with the $6.99 label and send it back.

Thanks for clearing that up.  That's what I wanted to do, but I was told on the live chat that if items were from more than one order I needed to send them in separate labeled boxes.  I always send a sheet with RMAs on it for whoever gets the box.

i doubt that counts for international shipping as well, right?
some pants tore apart but it seems that the shipping costs would be higher than the refund..

    Hi James - How's things?

Regarding the $6.99 shipping rate - this is very interesting from a business perspective...

Given the volumes Backcountry et al. ships, and considering the tier quantity price breaks for UPS, the flat-rate shipping probably cost you guys 3-4 dollars** MAX on each return if people use your labels? Obviously there are outliers to this assumption - but what a great way to make some extra coin.

So easier / cheaper for the end-user = more cash for Backcountry?

I'm not saying this is a bad thing...just realized how much money I saved when I shipped you guys something from my company's UPS account.

** I am basing my calculations on my company's quantity breaks with UPS.

Re: New Return Functionality on Backcountry.com

i just spent 17 bucks to send back a bunch of stuff because the guy on the live chat said i had to print a label for each individual order i was sending things back from. so i went to ups and made my own label instead.

granted its only 10 bucks and not a big deal but you should probably make sure all your employees are on the same page.

Like I've said before... If you have an issue hit me up directly and I'll take a look and see what I can do.... PM or Mr_Tidbit. As far as your refund goes, when you're UPS tracking number says the package has been delievered to our warehouse, call us up with that info and we'll issue the refund right there.

Hey Amanda, long time since I last heard from you. I can't really speak to the pricing on our end on the shipping as that's inside info. But you can probably guess that if someone is printing the label back and sending a couple of shirts back, or is sending a snowboard back if we are making, breaking even or losing money.  The end goal is to stoke our customers out and get them a refund faster.
