Re: Do you wear a helmet

They're super light, comfortable to wear (temp and airflow), come in cool colors and shapes, integrate with my ipod... there's no reason not to wear one now.

I've been wearing a helmet for skiing and boarding for 15 years.

    Hell yes, 24.

Your brain is wickedly important and it only takes one nasty spill to *** you up for life.  Go meet some people that live in a group home for the disabled, many of them wish they had worn a helmet doing there stunt, activity, they'll tell you this, if they can talk still.

Oh and you're 15 yrs; your brain is still in major development mode.  If you even get something as minor as a concusion it will cause your brain to develope a little different, not to mention you wouldn't / shouldn't board for like a month after a concusion.  Chicks dig scares and casts, not stutering and disablities.  Find a cool helmet with some sound and rock it with confidence.

But soup and milkshakes taste good. Not together though. ;)

Looks like I'll be buying a bean bucket tomorrow. My roommate really wants to get into the park and helmets are mandatory of course. I'm tempted to just tell him to play in the park while I ride the rest of the mountain, but that might be come across as me being a [male sex organ].

Re: Do you wear a helmet

used to wear a lid only 50% of the time, but since my last bail early this season, (which was hard enough to split my helmet and give me a mild consussion), I never ride without one anymore.

    Wear a helmet.

I've had too many concussions. Worst one being in Vail back in 99. One minute I was on the hill, the next I was waking up in Eagle Co. Hospital.

Re: Do you wear a helmet

True that!  I took a fall a few years ago (oddly enough also at Vail) where I took a decent fall.  I hit my head and chest.  I had the helmet on, so I got no head trauma, but I did break a rib, so I can imagine what would have happened without a helmet.  The thing is, I wasn't doing any tricks or jumps or anything dangerous.  Just cruising a cat track and caught an edge.  You never know when you are going to go down.

Your choice - wear a helmet now, or wear a drool bucket later.

Re: Do you wear a helmet

I feel complete with a helmet. Like, ready for action, feelin' pretty badass. The whole Helmet/Goggle thing is pretty cool looking, I think. If it's cold enough to justify the bandana, even better.

Re: Do you wear a helmet

helmets are the best thing around now, they can keep you just as warm as a beanie, they can jam to your tunes just like skullcandy, AND theyll keep your cranium intact if you eat it harsh

Re: Do you wear a helmet

I'm wearing my helmet 100% of the time now.

The day after I bought it I went up to Cypress on my own. I went through a small tree section that I've been through many times before. This time though I went in a bit faster than normal. I didn't quite make the 90 degree turn at the end, caught my board on a small stump, and got launched towards a tree. Thankfully I was off to the side just a bit and slammed into the trunk with the back of my shoulder as I slightly flipped. Then my legs decided to play catch-up and bent backwards like a giant C. No injuries other than a slightly stiff back. About 6-8 inches to my right though? I might very well have been dead from the tree trunk driving the top of my skull rather rapidly towards my jawline.
