    bozeman college + snowboarding

my brother is leaving with a bunch of his friends to bozeman in just over a month.. still cant believe hes leaving.  happy and sad at the same time.

anyway, apparently im getting a ticket down there this coming winter to visit and snowboard with all of them.  couple questions.  resorts?  theres a "big" one nearby, isnt there?  i know i can look online, but its always nice to hear from someone who lives/rides/has ridden there.  also.. best time to ride, roughly?  normal snow conditions, etc... you know the drill.

I have a high school friend that lives in Bozeman.  I took a trip up there earlier this year.  Fun for everyone.

    Re: bozeman college + snowboarding

Bozeman is a pretty cool place, but is also a little weird at the same time - though coming from AK it shouldn't be too bad. Lots of cowboys, lots of fightin, lots of granola eatin, herb puffin, and some hard core mountain activities. Bridger is sick, Big Sky is sick, The Gallatin is sick, Yellowstone? Pretty sick. Climbing? check. nightlife? yep. Cold as *** in the winter? check. Copious amounts of snow? check. Lack of chicks? Affirmative. Worth sticking around a few years in? Absolutely.
Bridger is the local place, and has great terrain. Big sky I think you can get discounts for being a student, not sure though. And you are only 13 hours or less from Denver. Yay! Closer than that to Jackson/Targhee. Watch out for them boys from Butte.

    Re: bozeman college + snowboarding

sounds just like here from what you wrote, minus cowboys (replace with fishermen) and nightlife (juneau nightlife = bars full of middle aged losers)

    im stooooooookeeeddddddddd

Well, its not like LA or NY or even Denver nightlife, but they do have a fair amount of bars, and granted, when I was living around there several years ago, there was a live music scene, and not every bar was a cowboy bar. I like a good rodeo as much as the next guy, don't get me wrong.

last year if you had a college id tickets were $58 a day. You can also buy the frequent sky card. last year it was like 65 bucks i think. Only worth it if you get quite a few days in though. I think Big Sky is pretty awesome. Has good steeps and nice runs. Probly my favorite overall mountain. Really fun place to ride. I'm hoping to get out there a lot this coming season.
