Hi, looking for some advice, just moved to New Zealand from the UK so hoping to get way more riding done this year.

Seen what I think is a good deal on a Burton Twin 154 with custom bindings and wondering whether it's the right board for me.

my stats are as follows:

Feet US 9.5

Height 1.81 metres,

Weight 63kgs,

Riding- freeride- like playing in the park now and then.

Experience: 5 years (no full seasons- first board buying new!)

Help much appreciated,

Whats shakin' Markus?
So, if its a Twin you like, which is a nice board, then you are talking a lot of freestyle potential for a rookie. I would get an all mountain stick first off, because being new to religious boarding, you are going to find that slopestyle is fun too...however, I have a all mtn freestyle Clash 151 (I'm a shawty, Lol.) and I take it every where and I have won big jibbing too...
PM me if you need help picking a board out.
Check out other brands too- Rome, GNU, Nitro...I ride Burton because I get my stuff free...but otherwise I'd go Nitro.

I have similar weight and feet size, I had TWIN 157, it was pleasure for me to ride everywhere, I had no problem to ride freeride, very enjoyable, twin shape and centered stance allows me to playaround, doesnt matter if it was deep powder, park or slope. Fun to do butters, and jump 180s in pow. I can only complain about board width /for size 157/, its was too much for my feet size 9.5, according to my experience good width for pow but for rest of hill not good for me. I changed to 09 T9 JIB 156.5 and I can feel difference, it softer, not so wide as Twin and have nice shape too, fxcking good difference in everythink, faster egde to edge, faster in butters, literaly it was like that someone cutted a chain with weights for my legs

those boards are just not "real" boards, i guess you could say. theyre meant to be for chain stores.. cheap, crappy boards. and freestyles are garbage. you can get a $220 binding for the price of freestyles these days, and the difference is huge.

find some %50 off sales and buy a custom with missions or something.

arrrrrrr, ok, is the verdict much the same? what's so bad about them? not worth the cash? pretty cheap deal with the new freestyle bindings (which look pretty good)

I know there is always going to be a better board out there, that's why I was looking at the twin- i.e that was on sale for the same price as the indie is normally,

should I stay away from the indie and verdict and save up!?

NO!

The indie isn't a board in the "normal" if you will burton line... it's marketed towards chain stores such as Sports Authority and Models.

For your situation a Custom 154 sounds ideal if you can afford it.. and if you can't buy a previous years model.

because its a snowboard, you can use it wherever and however you want, but its not an ideal board for what you describe
