Get that 2x12 from Menard's, it will probably have enough of a cup in it that you can have regular and reverse camber in the same board.

You can always go back to measuring up to the tip of your nose if you want. I'm 6'2, 195, and size 12. My board for 3 years was a 04 dominant 152 (rail rider) with a 252 waist. I also had P1's and Sabbaths with that setup. NO TOE DRAG. I know its craziness in this world where everyone with a foot over 10 should still be riding a fat bob but it's just not true. For park I don't like anything more than 255 on a 155-6 and for all mountain a 258 on 158-9 and lots of sidecut on both of those. I also had a canyon 157. I sold it after only two runs. In the end it's far cheaper and easier to just mount your bindings to a 2x12 because they ride about the same.

Also, consider a rocker board like the Custom V-rocker 159 or 163 if you really want to go that big. Again just my opinion.

It's a sad, sad day for snowboarding when a 163cm board is "huge" for a 6'1 dude. A 257 waist isn't going to work well all that well for a guy wearing size 12 boots, you really want a 26-27mmish WW unless you like booting out on carves.

why is it sad? its just reality. no one NEEDS super long penis compensator boards anymore.

257 will be alright with 12's.

The WFO base on the Custom X is fast! I have a Baron ES 168 and it is faster than my old Canyon 168. WFO fo-sho!

Thanks everyone...My Canyon is 04 and its width 263, so the Custom X wide is 261 and the custom wide is 260 so not really an issue there...Its really about which is the better all round rideable board. Im leaning toward the X because I mainly freeride, and it sounds like it is more siuited to that....( sounds like it is quick as hell)Not sure if there would be any difference i the X being 164 and the custom being 162,as far as height goes.
I know its not Burton, but I was also looking at the Arbour element.

What year is the Canyon 163? The only reason I ask is because after 2002 the waist width on the Canyon got smaller. The Baron and the Custom wide are even smaller in thier waist widths. If you like to set an edge toe and heel cup drag are a real problem for people with big feet, so the wider the better. Before 2004 the Canyon hade a Superfly 2 core. The Superfly 2 core is the core used in most Burton pro models. My suggestion is to compare specs. See what core you have now, and what the waist width is, and compare them to newer models. Right now is a really good time to buy a board! There are a few online sites that have boards for half off retail price. I have a size 13 boot and I am buying older boards with wider waist widths for better float in the pow and less toe drag on the groomers. If you get a Custom X make sure it is the wide model.

I havnt really felt lacking, but its all i know so dont have anything to compare...I ride the mountain top to bottom, and like to carve, and charge pretty hard, but im not as young as i used to be. Some reports I have read say the custom X is possibly a bit to stiff, but if its similar to the custom then it wouldnt really matter .

Well those two choices are fairly similar, the question to you is how high a premium do you put on speed, response, and premium materials.

The Custom X is going to be faster, more responsive, and better built than the Custom. But you'll also pay for it, about $150 retail.

So in your time with your Canyon have you been happy with the performance? Or have you consistently found that you want better performance? If so, look for a Custom X. You can probably find a 164 wide pretty cheap right now. But either option will be step up from what you're riding now.
