unless you live in the sticks, non-trucks are generally more fun to drive and practical than trucks.

yea, i'm leanin towards the WRX as i have no practical reason to get the truck, other than tailgating, and helping friends move and ish.

i like that the WRX is priced way lower, which in-turn may sway me to buy a new one, but i hate that they are harder to find, and that they have shitty defrosters, and in the winter, the inside of the windows always freeze up. at least that's what happens on the sedans.

It depends on if you ever see yourself needing to tow/haul any thing ie boat, sleds, etc.  If the answer is yes, you want the truck.

MPG is significant 17/21 on the nissan, 20/27 on the lesbaru.

I personally don't care for the looks of the new WRX wagons.  The pre-2008 ones were ok, but they are very small.

I have a 2006 Subaru Outback XT limited, and love it!  More HP than the WRX, much more room for people and cargo, same MPG.  Drives great, took it on a 6,000 mile road trip this summer and loved it even more.

If I were getting a truck, considering MPG along with other things, I'd look at a Tundra.  I think even the big 385HP crew cab one gets about the same MPG as the Frontier.

i peeped the Tundra...too big for me. no need for that size of a truck. and when i said new, i didn't mean the '08 ones. sorry, should have been more clear. i also hate the way they look. i was thinking more of an '07 that was overstock or something like that.

I can't speak to the defrosting issue as I have only had my lesbaru since May.  Mine has both  front and back windshield wiper defrosters that supposedly work well.

Sounds like you're leaning more toward the lesbaru.  Simple advice is to go test drive a few different models.  Definitly try to drive an XT if you can to compare to the WRX.  The problem is that the XT can be hard to find.  The largest subaru dealer in the midwest is in my home town.  The have something like 50-60 Outbacks on the lot and maybe 1 is an XT.

Also look for slightly used.  Got a sweet deal on mine.  It was a year old, but only had 6K miles on it.  Some subaru excutive drove it 6 months.  Thing was mint, looked just like a new one off the lot.

    Good luck!

nice. the defrosting issue is just what i've seen happen with a few friends of mine that have WRX's, one an STI. i'll look at the XT if they have one.

and i certainly am not opposed to buying pre-owned. (fancy term for "used" i know.) if i can't score a new, un-used '07, i hope to find an '05 or '06, if not '07 with low miles, preferably under 15k miles.
