WTF is UP with Radio Stations

so i turn on the radio this am for some garage cleaning tunes and the "alternative rock" station is now blasting fucking mariah carey and boyz to men and sh!t. yesterday it was wasn't any different.

I don't get how these fucking radio stations just keep changing formats? its not like there aren't any other fucking bullsh|!t pop/hiphop sh!t music station in this town. give a few more months and it will switch to country and then in a year it will be classic rock. fucking stupid.

And people wonder why everyone is pirating music.  It's because radio stations have gone to shit.

And paying for music is for chumps.

The Alternative Radio Station of my childhood, KWOD 106.5, just changed formats, kinda sad. Other than Live 105 in the City there really aren't any Alt radio stations in Nor Cal anymore.

Re: WTF is UP with Radio Stations

It's the fricking economy to blame. There's less advertisement money to go around. The corporation radio station will be forced to play whatever gets the higher rating to attract more advertisers. Unfortunately, top 40 is the easiest way to get higher ratings.

Re: WTF is UP with Radio Stations

but they constantly just change. we have had probably 3-5 different top 40 *** radio stations  in the last 6 years.

if they aren;t making money then their business model is fxcked, switching formats obviously isn't enough.

Re: WTF is UP with Radio Stations

Out here, we lost Indie 103.1 (which was awesome) to Mexican musak.

Then we lost Talk Radio 97.1 (Tom Leykis) to Top 40.

Re: WTF is UP with Radio Stations

my sirius unit uses an fm transmitter and i use 97.1fm locally which sirius recommends for my area.

as of hte alst week, as i pull into the downtown area there is a range of about 5 miles where 97.1 now picks up messican music.  it's insane like some dood has a small scale pirate radio station in his house or something.

need to find another fm station i guess.

If I don't have my iPod in the car, I just leave the radio off.

i love NPR.  it's the only radio station i listen to.
but car talk and anything with garrison keillor make me want to put my car on an incline, throw it in neutral, and set my skull behind the rear tire.
