    2010 BOA boots.....???

After 2 seasons of snowboarding I am OVER traditional lace up boots.

Switching over to BOA for 2010.

    I am looking at:
    1) DC
    2) VANS
    3) CELSIUS
    4) THIRTY-TWO

Which of these companies (in your opinion) makes the better BOA and has anyone tried any of these? I need some feedback.

And how about speed lace systems? How do they compare with BOA's?

    I rode size 7 32 lashed past 2 seasons.

    Thanks.

none of them make a better boa, they all use boa. its like asking which is heavier, a ton of feathers or a ton of bricks.

I'm not a big fan of BOA, but I know enough about the tech to say you're right and wrong drjcv. When you look at everyone's $129.95 BOA boot, yea there isn't any difference in how it's applied as it's just a single lace boa. But when you look at the higher end models there are differences.

Several companies have taken boa and adapted it to be different.

Ride has a closure loop on the instep of their boots that significantly reduces the pressure that can be caused on your instep. It works so well that BOA tried to buy it from Ride so they could market it to other companies but Ride turned them down.

K2 has a new inner harness piece next year that has velcro on the inside and can be moved all around your ankle. You can move it up/down, left/right, etc... and find the spot on your ankle that it holds you down the best and doesn't cause pressure points. K2 also has a triple boa next year, two knobs for an upper and lower zone and another for the inner harness.

Like K2, there are a few companies (Thirty Two, DC, Vans) that have dual zone boa on the outer shell, a couple that have traditional lace with a boa harness on the inside.

Personally, if you're going to do a Boa boot I would suggest taking a look at K2, they have really invested a lot of time and money into their 2010 models. They have done a good job combining the tech with their intuition liners which fit a wide array of foot types compared to DC and Vans.

Edit: Tidbit has been on a pair of 2010 Ride Insano Boots with Boa the last two months. While she doesn't like the single lace boa as it does cause some pressure points, she hasn't had a single problem with the system yet.

    Re: 2010 BOA boots.....???

the new BOA tech is more lowprofile and smoother than in years past. i've been on the 2010 cirros from vans and the BOA hasn't been any issues. single BOAs IMO are worthless as they create pressure points. the focus system is the way to go or a mix of BOA and velcro such as the vans Matlock or as Mr. Tid said how the K2 systems use BOA integrated with the inner liner.

BOA, SpeedZone, it's all the same bag. if you worry about reliability issues, use laces. i still mainly run lace boots as even two sets of Boas or SZs does not alleviate most of my pressure points.

    Re: 2010 BOA boots.....???

who needs boa on their fucking liner? seriously. why would you want that steel cable millimeters from your flesh? who has ever complained they can't dial in their liner tight enough? k2 is so fucking weak, they put it on the liner just so they have the only liner with boa, it serves no purpose and anyone who buys it deserves the foot pain they will have to endure

gee my boots just aren't complicated enough, i think i need a fucking guillotine around my feet.

Not that it's a huge deal, but I just have to laugh a little bit every time I've got both my Ions on and ready to go while my friend with dual Boa boots is still tightening up his first boot. :P
