my gf wants these. she came back from sia totally pumped on these. i hate having to wait as long as it does to convert from skins to board.

nice vid, but things always look easier when you are not in the field.

I dont think it willl be harder than sliding it on the puck and inserting the pin, then sliding it off turning it around and insert the pin for tour mode...

.i would like to know if the big tour guys are using this ie. multiple days in the backcountry (ice build-up, crud on the puck.

They work just fine.  Yes, it's a slower transition than skis, but not by much.

Ice happens, but no worse than in a ski binding.  Having something pointy to chip out ice is handy at times.

I thought the whole point it was way faster than bolting on binders, then unbolting them to go ski mode?

It's slower than a guy ON SKIS just taking off skins and clipping his heel down.  Splitboards will pretty much always have a slower transition time than skis, but it's a compromise for the ride down.

Sparks are lighter and stiffer than using the voile plates and regular snowboard bindings.  They have no effect on transition time.

Splitboards have never had to bolt and unbolt bindings.  Voile patented the puck system years ago and that's what everyone uses.

i have been told the plate for the Sparks that slides over the pucks have rubberish lining along the track making it easier to get the bindings into place.

nice video... I'd like to see someone do the transition in under a minute while clinging to an icy cornice on top of the world...

    Re: Spark R&D rules

the only difference with these is they come with an integrated baseplate, with the normal system you convert whatever bindings you have to work with the pucks, the way it attaches is no different or simpler, its just a more off the shelf solution

bcrider posted pics of his sparks that he modified with burton straps and a co2 mesh highback
