Looking for some advice on a setup for a complete beginner .

I am a 100 % complete beginner.  I'm 5'8" and weigh 145lbs.  I am coming into this with a background in skateboarding.  I am looking to a get a board and a set of bindings.  My local riding area has only 140 feet vertical, but it has a terrain park and a half pipe.  Once I'm up and rolling I'm probably going to spend most of my time in the park or pipe due to the lack of ridable terrain.  I am planning on taking beginner lessons and going it from there on my own.  My priority is to get up riding and progress.  Obviously my progress will be determined by how much time and effort I put in.  Dropped the $230 on the season pass and I will have the ability to ride any day once there is snow.

I am leaning towards est bindings because of the versatility they will offer me once I know what I'm doing.  I'm a size 9 or 9.5 boot.  Size medium binding.  I can get the cartel est for 50% so they don't seem overly expensive at that point.

As far as boards go....  the est binding leaves the choice of the X8, the fix and the CONdom in park boards.  Some boards are 50% off, and I have seen the CONdon as low as about $200.  Leaning towards a park board, but no ruling out an all mountain.  Any advice on a board and board size would be appreciated.

Didn't read most of this, but I'd say go without EST for now. Sure, it would be cool when you know what you're doing, but if you don't know what you like, it won't help you much. Personally, I prefer just having the solid setup instead of EST, but that's just me.

By the way, if you're thinking about pipe and jumps, you'd probably want an all-mountain board.

I know, I'm not hating, but I had said the only board I would recommend was the method, so I had to.

Seriously though, you might be able to find something used that would  work well without emptying your wallet.  And make sure your boots fit well, or you're going to have a bad time.

est is fine, snowboarding isn't like a lot of other 'sports' where you have to be good enough for most equipment, it has more to do with budget and riding style than anything else

i would get the cartels or triads and the fix
