Where to roadtrip during the first week of the Olympics in 2010?

I live in Vancouver, and well... with the Olympics coming in 2010, I know it's just going to be a gong show. I'd like to be there for the final week of the Olympics, but for the first week my friends and I are planning on getting out of town.

So... where should we head on our roadtrip?

Option 1: Over to Nelson, BC... hitting up some backcountry operations on the way out there. I also know that Big Red Cats (who I've been wanting to catboard with for years) is out that way.

Option 2: Revelstoke and Golden BC. I don't know much about these areas but I know the pow is supposed to be great. I'm sure there are tons of backcountry ops/catboarding ops out there too. Also Kicking Horse resort.

Obviously I'd like to hit ALL the above places, but I don't think it can be done in a week, can it?

Sooooo what do you think? Which option should I choose? Anyone had experience with either?

What about down to Baker? Incredible terrain. Not that the other locations wouldn't be cool too, I suppose I'm just throwing that out there as a 3rd option. I've always wanted to ride there.

I love Baker and have been there several times... I'd really like to try interior BC as I haven't boarded (or been to) many of those places :)

Yeah going to both would be absolutely amazing... I'm just not sure we can do it in only one week. Have you ever done the trip?

I do it every winter, although I usually take two weeks.

With one week, wait until just before you are ready to go. Pick the area with the best snow.

BTW in terms of resorts if you pick Revy you always have the choice of Sun Peaks and Silver Star close by. In Nelson you have Red and WH2O. Kicking Horse is off by itself a bit.

Better choice of cat operators in the Monashees and Selkirks IMO.
